“ We wanted to do one big fancy night out for our first trip to New Orleans and we were not disappointed. Old school fancy, white tablecloth, tuxedo waiters, and fine dining. The birthplace of Oysters Rockefeller, though the Bay Ronquille oysters were my favorite. Get your cameras ready and order the Café Brûlot Diabolique, it is a spectacular show and tastes like Christmas. ”
“ This was an amazing experience .... This restaurant was recommended to me by several flight attendants and it did not disappoint. The one recommendation I was given was to go at lunch as this is a very high end restaurant and high end prices. They do have a dress code so please review before arriving. We also made reservations ahead of time though it wasn't very crowded . We went at lunch and ordered a variety of things we could share. And everything was out of this world. Service was impeccable. The meal started with a history of the restaurant which gave us some insight and an invitation to look around following the meal. This is a family owned business that has been around for quite sometime and is steeped in history. A definite must for any trip to the French Quarter. Highly recommend ”
“ On our second night in New Orleans we had to experience Antoine's. This classic French Quarter restaurant is not to be missed. Atmosphere is classic old south. It's like a museum that you're encouraged to tour after your meal. Service was spot on professional with that touch of southern hospitality. The food was amazingly fresh and well put together. Its classic southern French flavor is comforting and delicious. I know the French Quarter is packed with great places to eat but Antoine's is an absolute must try. ”
“ Every single dish that came out of the kitchen was just perfect!!! The escargot was very yummy with its buttery sauce. The chargrilled oysters were cooked just right with the nice balance of Parmesan and breadcrumbs. Pampanga special was sooo good. This place is just amazing! No wonder royals and celebrities have frequented this gem of a place. The vibe is upscale but does not feel uptight. The walls display famous patrons. Service was excellent. Every server was very attentive to your table. As soon as a dumb lands on the table clothe, someone comes in to clean it. Highly recommend this place. Make sure you make reservations! ”
“ The Mrs. and I had dinner last night at the venerable Antoine's Restaurant. Please note that I did not attach any photos for this review out of reverence for the culinary institution that is Antoine's. Our reservation was for 7:30. We sauntered down Royal street after having a few cocktails at The Carousel Bar and Lounge. We were seated in a very large dining room off of the main dining room. One of 13 I later found out. I had done my research on Antoine's and read some of the reviews from my fellow Yelpers. I didn't let the negative reviews sway me. Jesse J. was our server and I'll get into the amazing job she did later. The Mrs. and I started things off with some cocktails. Then we asked Jesse for some recommendations on the oysters. I'm not a fan of melted cheese on fish. In fact, I consider it a culinary abomination. A sin. A travesty. A....what were they thinking moment. Jesse recommended the Oysters 2-2-2. Two charbroiled oysters on the half shell, seasoned with butter, olive oil, fresh garlic ,herbs, grated Romano cheese. The second were two baked oysters with Antoine's own Rockefeller sauce created in 1899 by second generation chef and proprietor Jules Alciatore. The last were two Oysters Bay Ronquille Baked with blue crab crust of Romano, asiago and parmesan, garlic, lager, lemon, oregano. All of them were really good. Even the oysters Rockefeller. We also shared the Escargot Bourguignon which was really good. I've had A LOT of escargot and Antoine's is in my top 5. The Mrs. chose the Classic Fish Amandine which was fresh Gulf fish, light breaded , topped with toasted almonds, brown butter, fresh lemon drizzle, and served with a side of onion rice and asparagus. The fish was so light and flavorful. Overall, a wonderful dish. I ordered the Mushroom Bourguignon which was mushroom ragout in a burgundy reduction topped with roasted fingerling potatoes. I'm not a vegetarian. I just love mushrooms. Be the regular or magic. Antoine's took what I consider to be one of the most versatile ingredients and made it taste incredible. The mushrooms had a little kick and a little sweetness. Almost like barbecue. For dessert we had the Pecan Bread Pudding which was ok. It was very dense and the cinnamon was somewhat overpowering. We also shared the Café Brûlot Diabolique which is an Antoine's original of Chicory coffee with cinnamon, Triple Sec and Brandy. Flamed tableside. I may start putting Triple Sec and Brandy in my coffee every morning. As I said before, Jesse did an AMAZING job. She had a great sense of humor and made our Antoine's experience so much more enjoyable. She shared with us that had recently joined Antoine's from a more casual dining environment and it was her first foray into the fine dining world but it looked to us like she had been doing it for a while. To me, that's a testament to Jesse's personality and skill level, and Antoine's generational commitment to superior service. ”
“ We had our family Thanksgiving dinner at Antoine's and it could not have been more perfect. We had a large party so we were seated in a private room right off the main dining room. From the minute we stepped through the door, it was amazing. Charles and Al took impeccable care of us! What made it incredible is that they both engaged with the younger teens of the family and made it an absolutely memorable experience and not a stuffy family dinner. We laughed, we ate, we made memories!! The food was delicious and the wine list was great. Literally every bite of food was incredible. Thank you so much Al and Charles for making a lifelong memory for us! I think we'll be coming back every year!! ”
“ Dining area was small with limited seating and extremely noisy. It was difficult hearing my partner throughout our dinner. I would recommend reserving a table here. Charbroiled oysters were tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary as you can get this at any good oyster establishment in NOLA. Pomme frites were airy and light and a nice substitute to French fries. I opted for the Classic Fish Amandine with the extra sautéed lump crabmeat. The fish had a light, tasty breading. Overall, flavor wasn't anything exceptional, but it was a very "clean" dish that focused on the flavors of the individual ingredients (fish, crabmeat, asparagus). We finished our dinner with the Baked Alaska that was recommended by our waiter who was very attentive. Since this was my first Baked Alaska, I did not have reference to go off of, but it was a tasty, sweet dessert to end our meal. ”
“ We knew that we wanted to come here but with limited time, it would have to be for lunch. I was under dressed as we woke up to temps in the upper 40's and was wearing a hoodie. They graciously allowed my attire and gave us a seat at their front window. Service was spot on, we opted for soups and Oysters Rockefeller. We started with the warm bread and butter and had our soup first. I had the French onion and my wife had the Blue Crab & Brie Bisque. I'm not a fan of Brie, but I'm here to tell you that her soup was spectacular! Warm, creamy and loaded with crab meat. My French onion was really good as well, and if not for tasting hers, I would be raving about it instead. The Oysters Rockefeller were quite good as well and we learned that they were first served here decades ago. A couple of seasonal drinks and just enough to eat, we were ready to go forth and explore the French Quarter. Thank you for a nice lunch. We were able to eat at the oldest restaurant in the world a couple of years ago, now we have eaten at the oldest in the U.S. ”
“ Having anticipated Antoines given much fan fare, I had high expectations of a very good meal and a GREAT meal is what I had! One of the longest standing family owned establishments in the French quarters, Antoines delivers a well rounded meal and experience that is hard to compare. The overall service and ambiance set the stage. As I have seen in Nola, the service and delivery set the mood like none other. The same is the case with Antoines. The shrimp remoulade was absolutely delicious with the right bend and consistency of creole spices that were not overpowering. The charbroiled oysters stole the stage and had the right blend of creole and charred Parmesan. My one issue with the oysters were that they are very salty given the amount of charred cheese, however packed a ton of flavor. The pompano pontchartrain with scallops melted in my mouth. A local fish, this grilled flaky white fish covered with creole seasoning was utterly delicious and when combined with sea scallops was A +++. To finish the Baked Alaska is a must not only for the show but also the combination of flavors that may be a first in my life. Highly recommended for a special occasion! ”
“ This is the oldest restaurant in the United States, starting in 1840. When my wife and I went on our honeymoon, we went to the oldest restaurant in France, Le Tour D'argent. I thought this would be a nice bookend. I went here when I was a kid because my mother read about it in a book. I was 8 and all I remember was it was fancy and they lent me a little coat to wear. Though the dress code is business casual, many people wear what they want. Not I. First, this place oozes history. It feels like you're eating in a museum, though not in a bad way. It has a sense of elegance that is only occasionally disrupted by patrons who overindulge. Second, the service is literally perfect. There's a formality to the staff that is dressed in southern charm. Our waitperson was delightful. She was attentive, charming, professional, and I have nothing but glowing things to say about her. Everyone who assisted was great too. The ambiance and the service are as good as it can be. The food is well crafted, but lacks in inspiration. The oyster sampler was a special that I had and I liked it. It was a taste of 2 of each of 3 kinds of cooked oysters: Rockefeller, grilled, and bienville. This was very good and I enjoyed it. My wife had gumbo which she really enjoyed. My wife loved her lamb entree too. I had a beef dish that was just ok. The meat was properly cooked, but lacked seasoning and flavor. It was accompanied by a mushroom based sauce that was uninspired. It wasn't bad. It just was ok. Out desserts were both very nice: cheesecake and crepe beulee. The wine list is very good. But their wines by the glass are minimal and were not ones i wanted. There are no half bottles. So I got a very nice French Burgundy that I did not intend on finishing. My wife was annoyed with me. But I'd rather have half a bottle of a great wine rather than two glasses of bad wine. I was still glad we came here. The ambiance and the service were great. The food and wine weren't bad, just not great. This place is history. ”
